Theodore A. Johnson
Theodore A. (Ted) Johnson is our organist and music director. He joined the HUUC staff in 2005 after serving as organist and music director of the First Unitarian Society of Winchester MA for 13 years. Prior to Winchester, he was organist and associate director of several churches in Orange County, California, where he was also chair of the Education Committee and Dean of the Orange County Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. Ted received undergraduate music training at the University of Redlands and California State University Fullerton, majoring in piano and organ performance and church music administration. He is a Colleague in the American Guild of Organists (AGO) and was a frequent performance artist for the Orange County AGO, a member of the Boston Chapter of the AGO, and also performed in numerous Southern California churches.
Ted obtained a JD degree from Western State University in Fullerton, California, and was a practicing attorney in California before relocating to Massachusetts in 1991 and obtaining a Masters and Doctorate from Tufts University. He is currently on the faculty of the Heller School at Brandeis University where he teaches International Development and Dispute Resolution.
