Ecumenical Christmas Pageant
Held in the Unitarian Church sanctuary in mid-December, the Christmas pageant has been an annual event since 1967. It was started by UU Anne-Marie Arnold who directed the church's junior choir at that time. In the 1970's the pageant became a collaborative effort among members of the Unitarian Church, the Evangelical Congregational Church of Harvard, and St. Theresa's Catholic Church. Children from each church form the choir and play the roles of Mary, Joseph, kings, angels, townspeople, and animals; and an adult member of the community reads the traditional Christmas story. Two adults from each church form the committee that plans the event and oversees rehearsals.
Messiah Sing-In
Open to all, and held in the Unitarian Church sanctuary the Sunday before Christmas, the annual Messiah Sing-In was started in 1965 by UU Anne-Marie Arnold. An orchestra of local musicians accompanies four soloists, and the audience is the chorus, singing the Christmas portion of Handel's Messiah.
Church Auction
The annual auction, held in the Fellowship Building each spring, is a major fundraising and social event for the Church. Members of the congregation donate items to be auctioned off — vacation homes, hand-made craft items, gourmet dinners, services of all kinds, art work, etc.
