Women's Alliance


Our mission is to bring together the women of our church to discuss issues important to women,
to offer an opportunity for intergenerational friendship, and to support the special needs of the church.

General Information

Evening Meetings
We meet in the parlor of the Fellowship Building on the first Tuesday of the month. A potluck dinner is shared at 6:30 p.m., followed by a brief business meeting. The programs begin about 7:30. Everyone is invited.

Daytime Meetings
There may be an occasional field trip, which will be announced later.

Cancellations
In the event of questionable weather, the evening meeting may be postponed one week to the following
Tuesday. To confirm call Karen Davis (978-368-1846) or Chris Ready (978-456-8361)

Dues
$5 per year, payable at any time. Make checks payable to the Harvard Branch Alliance.

Alliance Activities

Bargains in the Belfry
Open Tuesdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and occasional Sundays after the worhsip service, late September through mid June. Lightly used women's clothes are accepted for sale (consignment or donation).

Boxwood Tree Project
Boxwood greens are assembled into small trees and decorated. The trees are available for sale after
church in mid-December.

Lending Library and Book Table 
Books about women’s lives, histories, autobiographies and others will be available on loan to church
members. New books from Beacon Press, Skinner Publishing and others will be available for purchase
after church on a seasonal basis.

Fair Trade Fair
The fair is being held in the FB on November 7, 2010, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to support women artisans in developing countries who are struggling to feed and educate their families.

Kapya Koomaan
Religious Right in Africa

Kapya Koomaan, an Anglican Priest from Zambia, is currently leading an Episcopal Church in Jamaica Plain and is project director at Political Research Associates. He is the author of "Globalizing the Culture Wars: U.S. Conservatives, African Churches and Homophobia. Anti-Gay Politics in Africa."

Experiences on the Appalachian Trail

Ruth Olsen is an experienced outdoor guide and Harvard resident. She will discuss her adventures in the out-of-doors and on the Appalachian Trail.
